SKKU, selected as R-WeSET Project
Our university, SKKU was selected as the Gyeonggi Regional Project Group for the 'Regional-Women Empowerment in Science, Engineering and Technology'; (R-WeSET) in 2019.
Our university receive the funding of about 600 million won from government until 2021, and will operate various education programs to raise female science and technology talent to increase the utilization of female human resources in science and technology fields.
The R-WeSET project, supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Korea Research Foundation, and the Korea Women's Science and Technology Identity Center, lowers entry barriers for female students through improved awareness in science and engineering majors with low female ratio, searches for the majors with mismatch between graduation and job opportunities through demand surveys, and produces distinguished women students via employment development and industry-university link programs.
Therefore, our university's R-WeSET project (Chairman Sohn Mi-ae, Professor of System Management Engineering / deputy dean of College of Engineering/ vice-head of Engineering Education Innovation Center) let female middle and high school students participate in Sungkwunkwan engineering program [career exploration], [career experience], [mentoring for career] so as to help them find their dreams and talents and enter into science and engineering college. This project will support female college students of the majors with wide mismatch in employment rates between male and female by developing and participating the V Creator Academy curriculum. we will help them to grow into data-based value-generating innovative female creators (Value Creator; V Creator below).
Since 'Woman Into Engineering' (WIE) project in 2006, our university has been focused on nurturing talented female science and technology scientist, selected as Center for Women in Science Engineering and Technology (WISET) in 2016 and Women in Engineering-Undergraduate Leading Program (WE-UP) in 2016 consecutively. Our university will serve as a cradle for the teaching of talented female in science and technology fields and fostering women future value creator in the fourth industrial revolution era.
