RES5053 Waste-to-Energy 3 6 Major Master/Doctor Korean Yes
A tremendous amount of waste (e.g., plastic waste, organic waste) has become a serious global environmental problem. Waste-to-energy is the process of generating energy in the form of electricity and/or heat from the primary treatment of waste, or the processing of waste into a fuel source. This field is widely investigated in many conuntries because it is considered an effective strategy for simultaneously achieving waste treatment and carbon neutrality. To study principles and theories of various processes for transformation of various kinds of waste into energy.
RES5054 Urban Building Data Fusion 3 6 Major Master/Doctor Korean Yes
Urban building energy reduction is important in the recent global scenarios of realizing carbon neutrality. This course is intended to provide urban building energy data fusion techniques to analyze and diagnose building energy decrease and energy efficiency. Data fusion fundamentals, building energy data characteristics, building sensing environments, data mining approaches are addressed to achieve the objective of this course. Moreover, urban building energy modeling methodologies including bottom-up and top-down approaches are proposed and then their modeling strategies are discussed. In the given assignments and projects, urban building energy analysis will be performed using the building energy open datasets.
RES5055 Advanced Theory of Eco-friendly Alternative Energy 3 6 Major Master/Doctor - No
In this graduate level course, students learn advanced principles and fundamentals of various eco-friendly alternative energy technologies (e.g., solar energy, hydrogen energy, energy storage, bioenergy, hydroelectric power, tidal power, and wind power) and their applications from an engineering point of view at a graduate level. In addition, most recent trends towards the eco-friendly alternative energy technologies will be introduced.
RES5056 Fundamentals of Ultra-pure water 3 6 Major Master/Doctor Korean Yes
The primary objective of this course is to provide students with fundamental knowledge regarding ultrapure water, which is indispensable in the semiconductor and manufacturing sectors. The course delves into the significance of ultrapure water in manufacturing industries, examines the composition of manufacturing processes, and explores recent technological trends. Furthermore, the course investigates the fundamental principles governing ultrapure water production by analyzing academic literature and presenting specific case studies in the field.
RES5057 BIM & Smart Constructon 3 6 Major Master/Doctor English Yes
This class teaches methods to build a construction plan and 4D simulation for Smart City, facilities, or buildings using BIM(Building Information Model). Through hands-on experience on BIM tools of 4D CAD as well as building construction plans, students are going to have a basic knowledge for construction plans required for smart city or facility construction. Students in this class should have basic knowledge for BIM authoring tools, such as ArchiCAD or Revit.
RES5058 Practical Deep Learning 3 6 Major Master/Doctor Korean Yes
In this deep learning project course, students with basic Python coding knowledge are the target audience. Those with coding experience in Matlab or C# can also follow along after learning the basic syntax of Python. The course focuses more on practical coding skills than on theory. With the emergence of various AI models, there is a common practice of utilizing open-source code in real-world projects. Students will learn to implement AI models easily using open-source resources. Additionally, the course includes integration of popular tools like ChatGPT through its API. The course is structured as follows: - Python Syntax Review: Brief explanation of essential syntax for deep learning coding. - Basics of PyTorch: Learning to use this leading deep learning framework. - Key Algorithms: - Using PyTorch for Classification and Regression. - Image Classification: Convolutional Neural Network. - Anomaly Detection: Auto Encoder. - Time Series Data Processing: Recurrent Neural Network. - Utilizing Open Source: - Yolo: Widely used algorithm in object recognition. - mmOpenLab: Framework allowing application of various latest vision-related algorithms. - Streamlit: Simplifying Python code into web applications. - Integrating ChatGPT API.
RES5059 Adsorption pretreatment for ultrapure water production 3 6 Major Master/Doctor Korean Yes
In the semiconductor industry, the use of ultra-pure water has become essential for semiconductor cleaning, ultrasonic cleaning, pharmaceutical manufacturing, resin polymerization, fine chemical industry manufacturing high-purity products, and food industry. The water quality required for ultrapure water for the electronics industry has become more stringent every year as semiconductor devices become more microprocessed. In the future, semiconductor devices will become increasingly miniaturized and complex, and it is expected that even slight impurities attached to the surface of the device will lead to performance deterioration. Adsorption is one of the methods to remove impurities contained in ultrapure water, and can be used as one of the ultrapure water pretreatment methods. This subject will cover this topic. Presentations by students will be main of this class.
RES5060 Smart Cities and Maintenance Research 3 6 Major Master/Doctor Korean Yes
This course is a research-oriented course for smart city maintenance, in which students select a topic related to smart city maintenance and complete research results over the course of a semester. Each week in class, students will present the results of their individual or team research on smart city maintenance, and learn problem-solving skills for smart city maintenance by looking at the topic from different perspectives, discussing the research progress, and refining the results. Later, through participation in on-campus and off-campus academic conferences, students will be able to present their individual or team research achievements, organize and present their research contents, and gain practical application skills that can be applied to the actual smart city industry as human resources suitable for smart cities. Through this, students in the class can grow into researchers who can conduct their own research.
