Department of Smart Power Engineering provides a master degree course contracted to public energy companies in Korea. It aims to foster key professional engineers by re-education of employees to lead the innovation of public energy companies for more clean, efficient, and secure energy and power generation. For this purpose, the Department offers a professional education program and research opportunities integrating the emerging technologies of the 4th industrial revolution (artificial intelligence, big data, virtual plant, computational simulation, etc.) with the fundamental energy technologies (clean combustion, renewables, and process engineering).

The Department was established in September 2020 with contracts with four major public energy companies (Korea Midland Power, Korea West power, Korea South Power, and Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd.)
