ECA5308 Design Structures Ⅰ 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering Korean Yes
Up-to-date study on preliminary structural design of a variety of buildings structures to make the best decisions in the crucial early stages of building design.
ECA5310 Elasticity 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering - No
"In this course the basic theory of elasticity including stress-strain relationship and energy principle is studied based on the theoretical background of strength of materials."
ECA5312 Structural Dynamics 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering - No
The purpose of this lecture is to present methods for analyzing the stresses and deflections developed any given type of structure when it is subjected to an arbitrary dynamic loading. The analysis and design of structures to resist the arbitrary dynamic loading requires conceptual idealizations and simplifying assumptions. In this lecture, dynamic equilibrium of structures, response of a single degree of freedom system to dynamic excitation( free vibration, harmonic loads and earthquakes, etc.), and response spectra are presented.
ECA5314 Advanced Construction Materials 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering - No
Introduces manufacturing methods and properties of construction materials such as steel and concrete. Measures of strength and physical properties of steel and concrete specimens.
ECA5316 Design of Building Structures Ⅱ 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering Korean Yes
Up-to date study on preliminary structural design of a variety of buildings structures to make the best decisions in the crucial early stages of building design.
ECA5323 Design of Steel Structures 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering - No
This course is concerned with basic understanding of the behavior of steel structures and the meaning of design specification requirements. General topics are devoted to the various types of structural members in common use: tension and compression member
ECA5324 Earthquake Resistant Design of Structures 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering English Yes
Characteristics of earthquakes; propagation of seismic waves; introduction to structural dynamics; response spectrum; accelerographs and seismograph; recording earthquakes; damages of structures; ductility; influence of soil; principle of earthquake resis
ECA5325 Dynamic Analysis of Structural Systems 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering English Yes
This course introduces basic theory of the structural dynamics on the problems for multiple degree of freedom systems. Basic knowledge on matrix structural analysis and finite element method is required. Topics to be covered are simple system, general app
ECA5327 Simulation of dynamic behavior 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering - No
The dynamic behavior of varius structures is invstigated based on the theoretical knowledge of structural dynamics using package programs or self-made analysis programs.
ECA5328 Application of Finite Element Method 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-8 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering - No
First, matrix displacement and force methods are studied for linear analysis of indeterminate truss and framed structures. After that, elastic and geometric stiffness matrices of space truss and frame elements are derived and linear elastic, buckling analysis and nonlinear analysis procedures of framed structures are instructed. With basic theories of elasticity, the refined F.E. analysis using continuum element and plate/shell elements are also addressed based on iso-parametric interpolation. Finally how to use general-purposed programs for structural analysis is instructed.
ECA5330 PSC structural systems 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering Korean Yes
In this course the basic knowledge for the prestressed reinforced concrete structures is studied. the current design codes of prestressed reinforced concrete structures are studied.
ECA5405 Theory on Risk Management and Decision making 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering - No
Effective project management requires effective, timely decision-making on the part of the project manager. However, decision-making is often complicated by both the influence of uncertainties and difficulty in understanding and modeling objectives. This course will present the fundamentals of systematic decision and risk analysis in the context of capital project planning, engineering, construction, and operations. Thus, the emphasis of the course is on an analysis methodology rather than on a narrow technical domain. The pragmatic risk management topics of contingency management, contracts, insurance, and sureties will also be addressed in this class.
ECA5407 Seminar on Construction Engineering Method 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering - No
Major construction methods and state-of-the-art technologies used contemporarily in construction projects are introduced through case studies. Features, pros and cons, future direction of those technologies are discussed and researched. This course could be provided through lecture series by practitioners and experts of construction and engineering firms.
ECA5501 Building Energy Management 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering - No
Building are designed and built to meet the needs of people and their activities. Resources to meet the needs include the building itself, the energy used, and skills at hand to operate the building. The objective of building energy management is to minimize the energy used for operating the building while maintaining comfort conditions for the occupants. In this course, basic concept and the process of building energy management will be introduced. And the energy management trchniques will be reviewed in various steps such as energy audit, idenyifying opportunities, evaluation, retrofit and followthrough.
ECA5502 Advanced Sustainable Design 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-4 Civil, Architectural and Environmental System Engineering Korean Yes
The objective of this course is to provide students with an understanding of environmental design principles in architecture. Principles of life-cycle design and strategies to increase environmental sustainability in buildings are are insvestigated. It also examines energy-conscious design issues using a design problem in a studio format. This course presents design and modeling methods for predicting thermal and lighting behavior and introduces the latest building environmental technology.
