CAL2051 Landscape Dendrology 3 6 Major Bachelor 2-3 Civil, Architectural Engineering and Landscape Architecture Korean Yes
Theoretical background for the function and landscape architectural usages of trees as well as their morphological and physiological characteristics will be lectured. The ability to manage field work will be obtained by field practices.
CAL2076 Park and Open Space Design Studio 3 6 Major Bachelor 2-4 Civil, Architectural Engineering and Landscape Architecture English Yes
Park and Open Space Design Studio focuses on parks and open spaces as design sites among the various types of landscape architecture. It is structured to learn the design process, from basic investigation and analysis of the site to derivation of design concepts and development of schemes in detail. Students should present their work at the end of the semester.
CAL2078 Planting Design and Manual 3 6 Major Bachelor 2-3 Civil, Architectural Engineering and Landscape Architecture - No
Planting design plays a pivotal role in creating meaningful and valuable places that contribute to our culture and nature. This course provides an opportunity for students to lead their own planting design. Lectures and exercises will examine and illustrate planting design principles and methods incorporating elements of spatial structure, performance of plant materials, cultural and aesthetic values, and technical issues related to installation and maintenance.
CAL2080 Spatial Design Studio 3 6 Major Bachelor 2-3 Civil, Architectural Engineering and Landscape Architecture Korean Yes
Landscape Architecture is concerned with aesthetic and functional elements of landscaping. This class is a basic course for students to be trained with enhancing spatial composition abilities, including 2D and 3D expression techniques, spatial scale, and media use techniques, for landscape design and intended for the student to be trained with the perception of landscapes. Through aesthetic consideration of the landscape, students acquire basic capabilities to understand the relationship between humans and the environment and reflect it in design.
CAL2081 Garden and Outdoor Space Design Studio 3 6 Major Bachelor 2-3 Civil, Architectural Engineering and Landscape Architecture English Yes
Students understand the function and the meaning of the garden and practice the design process dealing with small spaces. Students also expand the scope of understanding through theoretical discussions and practice on the public garden, which has recently emerged. Through this process, students learn the components and methods of small spaces, which are the most implicit units of outdoor space in landscape design, and learn the composition of spaces, and expression and communication methods.
CAL3012 Cost Estimation for Building Construction 3 6 Major Bachelor 3-4 Civil, Architectural Engineering and Landscape Architecture Korean Yes
Construction cost estimation is very essential to budgeting and cost control through the overall construction process. In this course, principles of cost estimation for building construction projects will be covered followed by cost estimation practice based on the construction drawings.
CAL3014 Building HVAC Systems 3 6 Major Bachelor 3-4 Civil, Architectural Engineering and Landscape Architecture - No
The course intends to study the basic concept of HVAC systems and its type and system characteristics, design process(analysis of psychrometric chart, heating and cooling load, design of heating and cooling source, pump and pipe, fan and duct), system control and management for energy efficiency and thermal comfort, installation and construction management, TAB and commissioning, operation and maintenance/facility management. Concerning mechanical system design and operation which are compatible to the architectural design, this course also provides the practice on the decision-making process to solve the various engineering problems which mechanical engineering consultants could be faced with during the design stages.
CAL3017 Individual Study I 2 6 Major Bachelor 3-4 Civil, Architectural Engineering and Landscape Architecture Korean Yes
This class is for the students who plan to enter a graduate school. The students have to already finish more than 5 semesters. The students receive a personal guidance in the course of studies. In this class the students are required to select a specific topic and carry out a term project based on the knowledge obtained from the other architectural engineering classes, and on the lectures and discussion on related topics.
CAL3018 IndividualStudy2 2 6 Major Bachelor 3-4 Civil, Architectural Engineering and Landscape Architecture Korean Yes
This class is the continuation of the Individual study 2. This class is for the students who plan to enter a graduate school. The students have to already finish more than 6 semesters. The students receive a personal guidance in the course of studies. In this class the students are required to select a specific topic and carry out a term project based on the knowledge obtained from the other architectural engineering classes, and on the lectures and discussion on related topics. It is recommended that the students further develop the topic into the thesis for master degree.
